Inspired by the sermon and moved to action, a husband and wife sacrificially gave eighty acres of farmland upon which to build a children's home. Within months our first residential home was built, and NMCCH soon became home to forty-eight children.
Nearly forty years after that original sermon, its preacher decided to put a pen to paper and recount the history and meaning of NMCCH. In his conclusion, he referenced Jesus' parable of the good Samaritan and wrote simply, "this is what we are trying to do."
Since our very humble beginnings nearly seventy years ago, NMCCH has grown. We have more land. We have more buildings. We serve more people in more stages of life than ever before. What hasn't changed is our commitment to go and do likewise. Across years and decades, we have touched the lives of thousands of people, and their lives have touched ours. Our story is really their story, and in truth NMCCH belongs not to us, but to them.
