Anastasia's Story

A safe place to land changed her life.

Not Just Help, It Was the Way People Treated Her

Because of friends like you

Through New Mexico Christian Children’s Home’s Single Parent Ministry, Anastasia and her family found something they had never experienced before – a safe place, caring people, and the love of Jesus Christ lived out every day.

When Anastasia was just 14 years old, her life was headed in a painful direction.

Her family struggled with addiction, instability, and incarceration. She was searching for acceptance in all the wrong places, trying to fill a void that only seemed to grow larger.

Then everything changed.

It wasn’t just the practical help that transformed her life. It was the way people treated her. “You loved us without judging us,” Anastasia says. “You loved us when we were broken. You loved us when we had nothing to offer in return.”

She remembers watching staff members patiently model what it looked like to follow Christ. “No one forced me to change. It happened because I was finally surrounded by people who showed me what a life with Jesus looked like.”

At 17, Anastasia believed she was ready to make it on her own and stepped out into the world.

But life quickly became overwhelming. When everything began to fall apart, she knew exactly where she could turn – New Mexico Christian Children’s Home.

And because of faithful friends like you, the door was still open.

Through NMCCH’s Young Adult Ministry, Anastasia found safe, furnished housing while rebuilding her life. She received practical support, encouragement, discipleship, and guidance as she learned how to live independently.

Today,

Anastasia is thriving.

She has purchased her first car. She is working. She is preparing to serve in the military. Most importantly, she continues to grow in her relationship with Jesus Christ.

Looking back, Anastasia sees God’s faithfulness throughout every step of her journey.

The words of Psalm 40:2 are especially meaningful to her… “He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.”

Today, there are 10 young adults at New Mexico Christian Children’s Home who are walking a journey much like Anastasia’s.
